What wagon is best wagon?
Volvo 240 anyone?
Is moar LT1 moar better to master the roads?
Or the muscular Vista Cruiser? Not to be confused with Windows Vista.
Or maybe you swear by 4 wheel drive?
Or maybe you were dropped one too many times as a child.
Maybe your favorite wagon is not pictured? Come on! Everyone! Post your favorite wagon!

Some of the wagons I’ve owned. I shot that picture of the 325i in the docks, right before I shipped it to Texas. The Galant and the Legacy were bought for €500 each, and were my entries for the 2016 and 2013 Carbagerun winter rallies through Europe. The Galant is now the DD of my parents, the Subaru was sold in 2013 but, checking the plate, is still road legal.
The E30 BMW Touring is my strong favorite. The one I shipped to Texas sadly had an automatic. I had a second E30 Touring, which did have a manual but which was plagued by rust and the smaller six.

All 240's should be crushed.

To be honest I’d probably go Vista Cruiser or Country Squire, but somebody has to mention the Nomad!

I wouldn’t turn down any except for the K-car, but I can confirm that the LT-1 Roadmaster is a magnificent beast.

chop top, top gone wagon, all season convertible.......

No
I’m happy to report that I am responsible for 2 240 wagons being crushed, one was even a manual.

Nah. He’s a bit of a jerk, he’s reported me to county when I was scrapping my car. “Uh he’s got car parts on his lawn please come do something about this!” The county lady was nice and said she saw tires and the rear window when she came. And that I should just cover them With a tarp. Also he accused me of running a repair shop out of my house, which is total bull shit, even the county lady said, “yeah he’s just grasping at straws”

That’s the fate of so many C3's. The husband of my wife’s friend has a gutted primered POS C3 in his garage. It’s permenantly raised 4' off the garage floor on a wooden platform, with tons of junk under it, in it, and on it. I just shook my head when I saw it.

What is this? It looks kinda like a Karmann Ghia wagon....

Be happy, they were terrible cars! I should have fond memories of them, as it’s what I learned to drift in, but I don’t. I learned to drift in it because my dad got tired of dealing with little shit every other week, so he sent me off to kill it. This and the Panther love makes me not trust this site, as they are both absolutely hateful piles of shit.

If killing off absolutely garbage cars makes me a monster, I’m glad to be one.

I’m fine with old cars, just not that one. Read response to HondasFordsVolvos for a little more insight, but earlier today Steve made a great statement about them: durable=/=reliable. The engine was fine on it, everything else was done at less than 10 years old. Same story for our 740, other 240, and I won’tt even get into the 850.

Oh damn, I forgot about this. It’s like the spiritual successor to the roadmaster.
![]() 11/29/2016 at 20:07 |

Umm...... I don’t really think that the Mazda(speed I think) 3 counts a a wagon. It’s really more of a hot hatch.

Boo is damn right.

The Wagon category absolutely destroys my brand loyalty. I yearn for a Vista Cruiser(damn you That 70's Show), and a baby blue Nomad Wagon, and a Subaru Forrester, and an Edsel Roundup, and a Volvo with a 5.o conversion(think Paul Newman), and a Mercedes wagon(don’t care which I love them all), and this list goes on and on.

Loyalty? What are we, dogs? There is no room for that here. Go have yourself a nice big brand orgy and get any car you want make be damned.

![]() 11/29/2016 at 21:30 |

Not trying to spoil your fun, but if you hack the roof off, it’s not really a wagon anymore.
![]() 11/29/2016 at 21:32 |
|
That E30 tho.... Any regrets?
![]() 11/29/2016 at 22:07 |

If you put in a firewall type assembly behind the rear seats, does it become a 4 door ute convertible?
![]() 11/29/2016 at 22:12 |
|
If you convert the hatch/cargo area to a tailgate and bed, then I guess.
![]() 11/29/2016 at 23:20 |

oh, of course.... P1800es. I got it in gold for you.

For me it’s the Volvo 850 R, the culmination of years of effort by Volvo to really let it’s hair down. And so it did, and it was glorious. A sleeper that had no right to be as fast or as powerful as it was. Torque steer and spine shattering to boot. (for a Volvo).
![]() 11/30/2016 at 12:14 |
|
how does it in any way loose its “wagon-ness” by doing away with the roof?
![]() 11/30/2016 at 12:42 |
|
Well, It’s kinda like if you hack-shortned a sedan into a coupe. It’s not really a sedan anymore. Or putting a box truck thing onto a flatbed truck. It is a really big change that alters the very nature of the vehicle.
![]() 11/30/2016 at 12:51 |
|
i can see the sedan to coupe, and i can see the box to flatbed,(although it is still a truck).
maybe i should just outright ask “what is the essence of wagon?”
![]() 11/30/2016 at 12:55 |

I think ideally a mid-full sized car that’s like a hatch, but bigger and more squared off at the rear. Also wood paneling helps (if the origin is american)
